2 PART-TIME OFFICE ASSISTANT POSITIONS (different schedules, different work locations)

$12.00-$15.00/hour DOE

MFD Front Desk Office Assistant: 19.5 hours/week (Monday­—Thursday 1 pm-5 pm; Friday 1 pm-4:30 pm)

Emergency Services National Academy (ESNA) Office Assistant: 19.5 hours/week (Monday­—Thursday 10 am-2 pm; Friday 10 am-1:30 pm)

Looking for two long-term individuals to perform a variety of general office and clerical duties. Two years of office experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience and training. Thorough knowledge of general office equipment. General to advanced skill in computer operation, specifically the Windows operating system and Microsoft 365 (especially Word and Excel), and be able to quickly learn and be proficient in using job-related software applications.

MFD Front Desk Office Assistant: this position assists with the administration of overall daily fire department functions; located inside the front of the fire station

ESNA Office Assistant: this position assists with the education arm of the fire department, see www.esnalearning.com (assisting with the administration of EMS and Fire classes); located behind the fire station

EMTs/PARAMEDICS & FIREFIGHTERS (PAID CALL & PART-TIME PAID CALL--not full time)

Paid Call Single Certification and Paid Call Dual Certification are year-round emergency responders. These designations are an entry-level position and have opportunities to come in for Minimum Staffing and All Call staffing requests (and go on incidents as needed), to go on discipline-specific event standbys (football games, rodeos, fireworks, etc.), to fulfill event requests (station tours, teaching basic fire safety and first aid, etc.), and to fulfill emergency staffing requests for Part-Time Shift spots if needed. Paid Call employees have the opportunity of becoming eligible for Part-Time Shift Coverage (promotion position) which is to work an assigned 12-hour shift every six days.

Specific requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be able to pass required physical fitness tests
  • Must live within a 15-minute drive time of one of our stations (Rexburg, Archer or Sugar City)
  • Must have required EMS or Fire certifications for application consideration--read the introduction link below
  • Must become dual-certified in both EMS and Fire within a specified time frame

FUELS REDUCTION CREW MEMBERS & WILDFIRE MITIGATION SPECIALIST (seasonal "summer")

The Wildfire Mitigation Specialist and the fuels reduction crew clear brush and trees to reduce fire risk. The normal work schedule is 40 hours/week, Monday through Thursday from latter May to August, but there will also be opportunities for wildland deployments.

Applications for seasonal "summer" work can be submitted at any time for consideration for the current or next summer season, and they will be held until we're ready to do group hiring, at which time all applications will be reviewed and applicants will be contacted.

Specific requirements for FUELS REDUCTION CREW MEMBERS ($15/hour):

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must already have NWCG FFT2 wildland fire certification
  • Must be able to pass the Arduous Work Capacity Test
  • Must be able to use chainsaws

 

Specific requirements for WILDFIRE MITIGATION SPECIALIST ($20/hour):

  • Supervise crew members in performing fuels reduction work
  • Must have three years of wildfire suppression experience
  • Must already have NWCG FFT1 and FAL2 wildland fire certifications
  • Must be able to pass the Arduous Work Capacity Test
  • Must be able to use chainsaws
